This painting was inspired by a true legend, 907 from Yellowstone National Park. She was the oldest recorded wolf in the park and had pups her last year in 2024. She died at 11 years old with one eye on Christmas Day after a fight with a rival pack. I had the absolute joy of seeing her, even at very far distances with her pups in June of 24. It struck me how she howled while laying down. But being fairly new to wolf watching, I know now that that is not so unusual. I feel honored to have witnessed her before she passed. This piece was made in her honor. She was a good mother and a great warrior and one tough wolf. She measures 30" x 24" and comes ready to hang on stretched canvas, ready to hang. I call it "Back to the Den". I went back in to make her a bit more expressive and loose.
